It’s easy to see why local alternative paper Westword voted Jonesy’s one of Denver’s best restaurants in 2011: With their elevated version of comfort food and outstanding (locally made) selection of craft beers , wines by the glass and specialty cocktails, Jonesy’s makes coming home like it never was before .
Housed in what was a soda fountain in days gone by, Jonesy’s is Denver’s first ‘gastro pub’—a place that serves exceptional food alongside exceptional drinks. Folks from the neighborhood and visitors alike feel at home ordering upscale riffs on classic comfort foods in a homey atmosphere, complete with pool table, board games and comic-strip wallpaper reminiscent of a 1970s rec room. On a recent visit, we loved Chef Beau Simmons’ Low Country Grits, served with crawfish, shrimp and andouille sausage, while their butternut squash and fig risotto—topped with sweet, pan-seared scallops—disappeared off the plate. Round it out with their famed smothered fries and you’ll have an idea of what makes Jonesy’s—like Saturday’s sold-out top restaurant tour—so special.
